About K.C.Mahindra Scholarships for Post- Graduate Studies Abroad 2026

 

Starting this year, the K C Mahindra Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies has been extended to students pursuing postgraduate studies at select premier institutions within India. This step reflects the Trust’s commitment to equitable access to opportunities. As India’s leading institutions increasingly offer world-class education and research, the expansion ensures that meritorious students are supported wherever they choose to pursue excellence.

 

K C Mahindra Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies Abroad was the Trust’s very first initiative. Designed as an interest-free loan scholarship, it has supported over 1,830 Indian students to pursue postgraduate education at leading global universities. These scholars have gone on to study at top-ranked institutions worldwide.

 

Each year, the Trust awards interest-free loan scholarships to a minimum of 50 students:

 

Up to ₹10 lakh for the top 3 K. C. Mahindra Fellows
Up to ₹5 lakh for other awardees

Eligibility:

 

*  The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

*  The candidate should possess a First-Class degree or an equivalent diploma of similar standard from a recognized University.

*  The candidate should have enrolled in a post-graduate program commencing between:

*  August 2026 and February 2027 for universities overseas

*  June 2026 to September 2026 for universities in India

*  Candidates studying in the FINAL YEAR of the degree or diploma courses are also eligible to apply, provided they produce before end of June their final year marksheet or provisional certificate from the institute stating that they have completed their degree/diploma course and have secured a first class.

The scholarship is not applicable for undergraduate studies, seminars, or conferences.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

 

1. What are the eligibility criteria for the Scholarship?

 

• The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
• The candidate should possess a First-Class degree or an equivalent diploma of similar standards from a recognized University.

• The candidate should have enrolled in a post-graduate program commencing between:

June 2026 to September 2026 for universities in India

2. Can I apply even if I do not have confirmed admission?

 

Yes, you can apply and submit the application even if your admission has not been confirmed. However, you must update on the status of your application once your admission is secured.

 

3. How will I get to know if my application is shortlisted?

 

All shortlisted candidates will be communicated by June through an email.

 

4. How do I update my application form after it is submitted?

 

The application form cannot be changed once it has been submitted. Any information that needs to be updated can be sent through an email to kcmetscholarships@mahindra.com by quoting your application ID.

 

5. What documents are required while submitting the application form?

 

The following documents are required to be submitted along with the application form. (Please go through the list of documents required to be uploaded on the application portal. Kindly keep scanned copies of these documents ready before applying for the scholarship. Do note that if you are uploading scanned copies of the original document, then you do not need to self-attest the same.)

1. Letter of Recommendation (LoR): A signed testimonial from any one of the referees mentioned (in the references section) can be shared in the following manner.

a. The LoR can be submitted along with the application. It should be on the letterhead of the institute or company.

OR

b. An email can be sent through the portal requesting your referee to upload the letter using the link provided on the email.

2. Copy of Admission letter/s: Please note that if you are yet to receive an admission letter, you may upload a Word document stating that you have applied for admission however are yet to receive the admission letter/email.

3. A Statement of Purpose (SoP) including an overview of your academic and professional background, past experiences, current pursuits and reflection of your aspirations. *Word limit: 500 to 600 words

4. Evidence of course and degree certificates along with Mark-sheets.
5. Rank certificate (if applicable) Mention Rank only with valid College proof (certificate/ email communication).
6. Copy of 10th & 12th mark sheets.
7. Copy of Passport for candidates applying to universities abroad. Aadhar Card/Passport for candidates applying to universities in India.
8. Your latest C.V (recommended to not exceed more than 2 pages).
9. For candidates applying to universities abroad:

Copy of GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL Score (if applicable)

10. For candidates applying to universities in India:
Copy of CAT/MAT/GATE/NEET/GPAT/CLAT/CUET/CEED Score (if applicable)

 

6. Is there any interest charged on the scholarship amount?

 

This is an interest- free loan scholarship.

 

7. What is the loan scholarship amount?

 

• Up to ₹10 lakh for the top 3 K. C. Mahindra Fellows
• Up to ₹5 lakh for other awardees

 

8. Do you ask for any collateral security?

 

We do not insist on any collateral, but applicants must have a guarantor. This is mandatory. The guarantor’s liability is on par with the candidate.

 

9. Who can be a guarantor and what is the guarantor’s responsibility?

 

The guarantor should normally be a parent/guardian of the candidate. In the case of a married person, the guarantor can be a spouse or the parent-in- law. In case parent/spouse are unable to be a guarantor, a guardian or any relative (i.e. any member of the family such as brother, sister, uncle or aunt- either maternal or paternal, may serve as the guarantor). A non-relative may act as a guarantor; however, it is subject to the Director’s approval and submission of relevant documents.

 

10. Do you have any format for the Statement of Purpose (SoP)*?

 

No, we do not have any specific format, but we do expect a compelling SoP. It should highlight your purpose in applying to a particular course in a certain university. Through the SoP, we want to understand your life and motivation for the chosen career path and goals. This essay should consist of an overview of your academic and professional background, past experiences, current pursuits and reflection of your aspirations. *Word limit: 500 to 600 words

 

11. Do you need a letter of recommendation (LoR) and is there any specific format?

 

Yes, we need at least one LoR, which can be written by a professor at the college or university where the candidate is studying OR an Employer, in case the candidate is/was working. The LoR should be addressed to K. C. Mahindra

Education Trust. There is no specific format for submitting a LoR.

 

12. When should I update my final choice of university for the course I intend to pursue?

 

You can update your final choice of university as soon as you decide to join the university of your choice. This step is mandatory to complete your application form.

 

13. When are the interviews held?

 

The interviews are held in July.

 

14. Are the candidates reimbursed for their travel and accommodation for the scholarship interviews?

 

The candidates travelling from outside of Mumbai are reimbursed only for their travel and not for accommodation. The candidates from Mumbai will receive a reimbursement of Rs. 1500 per candidate.
