The Finnish government has placed a great emphasis on education and education is a priority area. There are 21 university level institutions and 30 polytechnics in Finland.
Students from all corners of the world are welcomed to the country to pursue education.
Finnish universities and polytechnics have also laid emphasis on imparting education in English. This has been one of the reasons for international students to prefer the country.
Finland offers various fields of study such as information technology, biotechnology, environmental sciences, architecture, music, art, and design. The cost of education is comparatively low. Universities and polytechnics present in the country normally do not charge any fee. Ministry of Education funds higher education at the university level. The Ministry of Education is also responsible for ensuring the quality of education in Finland.
Admission
The universities generally have two semesters. The autumn semester generalfy runs from September till mid-December the spring semester stretches from mid-January to mid-May. Students in order to get admission into Finnish Universities have to qualify the matriculation examination at the end of the general upper secondary school. Universities of the country amend their admission requirements according to the demand. All fields of study have a restricted entry.
