Entrance Exam CLAT - Common Law Admission Test

National Law School of India University, Bangalore, is an inspiration for other states to establish similar centres of ex-cellance in law. Now, there are more than 10 Law Schools in our country. As a result, the students aspiring to get admission in prestigious law schools have to write at least seven Entrance Tests. It is a hardship to the students. After the intervention of Supreme Court, it was decided to conduct a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for the admission of law schools in the country from this year onwards. It is a sigh of relief to students. Seven Law schools have comitted to conduct CLAT and three Law universities will be making use of Common Law Admission Test scores for their respective admissions.

Eligibility

Students who have passed the Plus Two examination with 50 per cent or more marks in aggregate but will not complete 20 years of age on July 1, 2008, can apply for CLAT. Those taking the Plus Two examination this year can also apply. SC/ST candidates will get an age relaxation of two years.

CLAT will be a two-hour examination of 200 marks. The examination will have five sections, with 40 marks in English, 50 in general knowledge, 20 in mathematics, 40 in legal aptitude, and 50 in logical reasoning. The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), functioning at Kaloor, in the heart of Kochi is offering 5 year B.A.,.L.L.B. (Hons) programme.

Eligibility

The students with not less than 50% of aggregate marks in Higher Secondary Examination are eligibile to apply for this course. Out of 65 seats, 5 seats are reserved for candiates from outside Kerala state.

NUALS is conducting an Entrance Examination at different centres for selecting the students. The Entrance Test will be of 3 hours and the questions will cover General English, General Knowledge, Reasoning (numerical and logical) and Aptitude for Legal Studies.
