The Institute:
In today’s hyper-competitive global business environment, where change is the only thing that remains constant, the aspiring managers should be able to cope up with the new business styles and hitherto unknown business paradigms. This necessitates that the future corporate executives must be intellectually moulded and fine tuned to emerging business scenario. We, at GIM, are committed to attain this end by creating MBA+, the plus stands for the extra business acumen we bring about in our students through our well developed, time tested, unique methods of training – the PLUS makes all the difference.
GIM is an exclusive Management Institute to develop core competence and corporate decision making skills in the students through value based education and is a pioneering institution offering MBA programme affiliated to the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
In appreciation if successful conduct of MBA programme, AICTE has approved the enhancement of intake from 60 to 90 students from the academic year 2002-03. The current intake of ninety students is split into two batches, comprising 45 students each.
Bharathiar University has recognized GIM as a Centre for Management Research leading to M. Phil. and Ph. D. degrees.
The Institute was founded by Sree Guruvayurappan Educational and Charitable Trust (SGECT) in the year 1995. The Governing Council of GIM comprises of eminent academicians and leading industrialists with Dr. M. V Pylee, the former Vice Chancellor, Cochin University as the Chairman and Dr. Verghese Mathew, as Director.
The Campus:
We are located at a spacious campus at Navakkarai, 18 km away from Coimbatore and 30 km away from Palakkad on the Coimbatore Palakkad Highway at a serene and picturesque location, dotted with farms, coconut groves and vibrant green.
Curriculum of MBA: Eligibility: Any Graduate.
Fundamentals of Management are imparted to the students through 16 core courses and 8 electives spread across four semesters. The students also get a feel of the corporate world through the summer project, which they undertake by attaching themselves to industrial organizations. Specializations are offered in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Systems and Operations. Candidates are allowed Dual specialization.
The MBA Programme at GIM commences at 9 am every day with a practice of yoga and meditation. The classes get over by 4 pm. The library and Computer lab remain open up to 7. 00 pm. Bus facilities are provided by the college towards Coimbatore and Palakkad. The learning method followed is a combination of classroom lectures, discussions, seminars, workshops, case analysis, role-plays, management games etc. coordinated through a special Management Skill Development Programme.

The Infrastructure:Library:
The Institute has well-stacked Library with more than 3500 titles covering various functional areas of Business Management. The library is accessible from 9 a.m. To 7 p.m.
Audio – Visual Setup:
Audio – Visual aids are used in teaching to enrich the learning experience. We have a good collection of video cassettes and compact discs on Management. Students can develop their presentation skills with various aids such as laptop computer, LCD projector and presentation software. Students’ presentations are recorded on video and played back to them as apart of instant feed back for real-time correction.
Computer Lab:
Information Technology is no longer an innovation as it has become an integral ingredient for the success of business organizations. So we attach a lot of importance to computer literacy. Computer skills are imparted to all the students through training in various software packages irrespective of the student’s area of specialization. The lab is fully air-conditioned with access to Internet and remains open till 7 p.m. The students are encouraged to browse the net so as to make them net savvy as we believe that the future of business lies in the virtual world of Internet.

Psychometric Tests:
We have a unique system of periodic Psychometric tests to analyze and fine-tune the students to the requirements of the corporate world. A continuous assessment of the personality traits is done throughout the course and feedback is provided by experts. All the Management Skill development programmes are so devised to support the overall development of our students keeping in mind the extreme competitive environment.
Management Association:
All students become members of the Management Association “Vision” and are automatically involved in the various in-house clubs such as mock stock exchange, finance club, ad club etc. Each and every club is actively supported by a faculty advisor. The primary aim of these clubs is to make students learn by doing things themselves. The club activities are intended to provide a platform for the students to acquire various managerial skills which are necessary for their survival and progress in their professional indeavours. The vision also sponsors annual programmes like Brand wars, Ad-wars and mock interview-to name a few.
Placement:
GIM offers campus recruitment facilities to its students for rewarding career after their MBA. We have made significant strides in placing our students in reputed organizations. The placement activity is coordinated by a team of students under the guidance of a faculty team. GIM Diaspora comprising of its alumni has already spread out in the corporate world in India and Abroad. Our Students are working in Balmer-Lawrie, Colgate Palmolive, Tata Coffee, ABN – Amro, Delphi Automotive, Ceat Tyres, HDFC, ICICI, BPL, CIPLA, Reddy’s Lab, Centurion Bank, NIIT, SSI, Srichakra, Marico, Canon, Crompton Greaves, Pepsico and many more medium and big companies.
Alumni:
The Alumni of GIM are spread all over the world. The first Alumni Convention was held on the 2nd of March 2002 and it was decided that the alumni meet will be held on the first Sunday of the month of March every year. We continuously support the Alumni Association to grow and develop into a closely-knit and powerful community of its kind.
